I sure am glad we stopped here for lunch. The service was fantastic, great music, and just plain awesome food. The portions of onion rings, home-made chips, and fries were very generous. The sandwiches were not skimpy at all, it was great. Definitely a great place for lunch, and the prices were right.
What to say? Just a good place to hang out. Beer is cheap and food is very good. Plus, the people who hang here tend to be friendly and welcoming. As is the staff. Oh, and don't be afraid of the man with the reddish blonde Grizzly Adam's beard. That's just the owner, Matt. He's pretty cool too.
It's a "locals" bar. If you're a local there's a chance you'll see someone you know. There's a lot of regulars too so if it's your first time you might get a look or two but don't take it personally. If you're not a local my advice would be to keep your mouth shut, tip the staff, and don't expect red carpet treatment. Go to downtown if that offends you. This is one of the cheaper places in town to get a beer and decent food. Food is pretty damn good across the whole menu keeping in mind it's a bar and the kitchen is not that big. You might have to wait 5-10 minutes longer for your order so don't be in a hurry especially if it's busy. Oh and for the love of christ keep your glasses off the pool tables.
It was my wife bday and so we had 4 people total. We all got drinks and food in a timely fashion. The service absolutely unbeatable and the regulars were amazing. This what I would consider in my book to be the best bar we have been to and plan on making it our regular place to go. Thanks for the service.
Fun karaoke, great atmosphere, chill-non judgy - home town vibe. Love Matt’s Place!
